free music!
"There ought to be but one large art warehouse in the world, to which the artist could carry his art-works, and from which he could carry away whatever he needed. As it is, one must be half a tradesman." -- Ludwig van Beethoven, January, 1801

"A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle." -- someone talking about the sharing of information, perchance?

Looking for classical recordings? Share these with your friends, link to me, spread the word! Everything you can get to from here is 100% copyable - it's produced independently of the RIAA, because we love music!

This server is really the lab server for Prof. Sebastian Seung's lab for Computational Neuroscience. At some point, MIT libraries are going to give us server space, but for now, here we are.

Thanks to Walt Disney, we can't release any music that was written by a composer who survived after 1906 or so. The moral: kill great artists; their copyrights will expire sooner (albeit not in your lifetime - do it for your children, or theirs).

I keep hoping that I'll get a chance to add more music here, but I've left MIT to study in Boulder, CO. This means that I haven't had a chance to rip MIT's latest concerts. Maybe I'll get to it this summer...? So, the ball's in your court. Where can the world find your free music?
